Gary fiys a large variety of types and sizes of models, miniature to big, and he has now added a huge electric to his fleet. He has several nice used models for sale, call him at 503-812-0465 if interested.

Meeting Minutes – May 3, 2012

Eight people attended the meeting; Pete, Stuart, Bob, Matt, Steve, Mike, BIll, and Gary. Bob brought some stain for the tables. Gary brought his new quadcopter, Bill brought his electric Cessna and motors. We discussed new members and some old members we haven’t heard from in awhile. We talked about the Othello heli fun fly, three are attending so far. We decided on several things concerning the 2012 NCRCM Tillamook fun fly. We OK’d the funding of Stan’s suggestion for gravelling the driveway. Steve will talk to Stan to see if he wants to be in change of that project; getting the OK from Norm, ordering the gravel, arranging for spreading, etc. Steve will mail out the Fun Fly invitations soon. He will arrange for airpots for coffee and also arrange for Heli Direct door prizes. Stuart made a poster and Pete will give them to nearby hobby shops. Pete will also handle the pilot registrations and money for the event. Rob will again do the food, drinks, water and snacks, Matt might bring a generator, othewise no electricity. Rob’s tarp structure might be setup if we can get BIll’s donated metal corner piece to fit it. Tables will be painted and grass will be mowed by whoever can help. The JUNE 7 MEETING will be at the AIRFIELD and will be a work party for setting up the Fun Fly event (come early).

Welcome Matthew and Raymond, new members

Matthew Williams and his son Raymond joined the North Coast RC Modelers on April 14th and flew with a few other club members that same morning. They recently moved to Pacific City from Vancouver, Wa. Matthew was formerly the president of the Clark County Radio Control club. Both he and his son are accomplished RC pilots and have a variety of nice electric airplane models. They are accustomed to a large paved runway in Vancouver but had no trouble adapted to grass.

Welcome David Grigg, new club member

David Grigg is a new member of North Coast RC Modelers. He joined on April 14, 2012. David recently moved to to the coast from the Willamette Valley and now lives in Netarts. He is an accomplished RC builder and flier and enjoys variety of RC categories including scale, gliders, nitro and electric. He owns a nice variety of airplane models. He has a unique custom AMA number with an interesting story. I hope everyone gets to meet him and welcome him to the club.

Meeting Minutes – April 5, 2012

The meeting was attended by Bob, Bill, Stuart, Matt and Steve. We discussed mower repair and field maintenance. Bob said he would replace the mower belt and work on the mowers. We talked about organizing a work party to get the airfield in shape for spring but decided to see what was needed and do some maintenance over the weekend and then save the organized work party effort for just before the June fun fly. We discussed possible dates for our 2012 fun fly and we settled on Saturday June 9th as having the best fit. We still need to talk to Norm to make sure that date is OK with him before we commit to sending out invitations and advertising. We decided on a one day event with a 5$ landing fee and will work on additional details at the next meetings. We discussed obtaining a missing part for Rob’s shade shelter (no resolution). We discussed potential new members and reviewed the list of people that have or are likely to renew memberships in 2012.

Followup notes: Bob fixed the mowers on the following Saturday and they are in good shape now. The field was mowed, weed sprayed, and trimmed on the following Sunday, It was rolled on the 14th, tables were repaired on the 15th, It still needs table painting, shed washing, sign work, safety supplies, frequency pin repairs, weed eater repair, maybe a little fertilizer on the bare spots, another spraying, and weekly mowings.

I am working on putting together an article on the club’s history to be permanently showcased on the website.

What I need is photos, and information of the club’s various locations throughout the years. Photos and information/bio about current/past members, especially those who were there at the club’s inception and those who were/are instrumental in the club’s progression throughout the years. History of past club officers. How the club came to be, etc..

I think it’s important for the club to keep track of it’s history and origins, especially to give honor to those who came before us. It serves to give appreciation for what we have today, especially to those who are new to the club.

If any of you have info/photos to share, know info about members who are no longer with us, etc., please share.

McMinnville RC Swap Meet, March 10th, update…

McMinnville swap meet success!

Gary, Matt and Steve attended the McMinnville RC Swap Meet, March 10th, as sellers. We had three floor tables, which was a tight squeeze considering the amount of items we had for sale, but it worked out nonetheless…

Steve sold all his big items (Goldberg Super Chipmunk, E-Flite Alpha trainer, Eric’s Moki 2.10 and his flying wing), and some miscellaneous small items as well. Both Matt and Gary sold quite a few planes, engines, electronics and miscellaneous items! Even though we didn’t sell everything we brought (we brought two mini-vans completely packed to the roofs with us!), it was a success for our first time attending as sellers!

Matt bought a few items, and both he and Gary did some trading amongst themselves.

It was nice to see Stuart, Mike Walsh and the CAP cadets at the show as well!

It was a fun event, got to see some cool stuff and adding the excitement of “wheeling and dealing”…will definitely be back next year!
